NCAFP Interviews US Surgeon General Benjamin at NC Health Directors Conference

The annual State Health Directors Conference was held in Raleigh this week on Thursday and Friday. NCAFP staff attended on behalf of Family Medicine and family physicians who work in public health and interviewed US Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, MD.
The conference brings together both local and state public health officials to review issues of strategic interest and get updated on the progress that's being made to improve our state's health. US Surgeon General and family physician Dr. Regina Benjamin gave the opening keynote address. The Academy conducted a brief interview with Surgeon General Benjamin on her how family physicians can utilize the National Prevention Strategy in their communities and how to increase student interest in primary care with the Healthcare Reform roll-out on the horizon.
