Changing Political Landscape in Raleigh Makes FAMPAC Funding Critical

Over the last few weeks, a number of announcements have proven that significant changes in the General Assembly's political landscape are upon us.
Several state Senate and House members (as well as Governor Perdue) have announced that they will not seek re-election. While many of these decisions most likely stem from re-apportionment, several veteran legislators have also decided to retire. All told, the face of the 2013 General Assembly is expected to look much different than it does today and could possibly include as many as 25-30 freshmen legislators. In addition, as many as half of the members of one Chamber could have less than two terms of experience. With this growing uncertainty, it's critical for the Academy's political action committee (FAMPAC) to be positioned to offer support and education to current and future legislators on both sides of the aisle. FAMPAC helps us do this. The Academy is asking all members to contribute to FAMPAC, either as a one-time donation or on an ongoing basis as a Family Medicine Forerunner. The NCAFP must continue to make a difference in the future of healthcare in North Carolina and FAMPAC opens the doors to make this happen.
