Comprehensive Adolescent Health Screening

The aim of this project is to improve the delivery of care for adolescent patients in pediatric and family practices. It is critical to integrate adolescents into pediatric and family practices in order to ensure regular, annual visits and screenings for these patients. This intervention will assess the various practices and protocols in place for working with the adolescent population. This activity has been approved by the AAFP for 20 prescribed credits.

This activity is pending approval with the ABFM and the ABP as a MOC Part IV Activity.

Learning Objectives

  1. Increase the Diplomate awareness of how often they are discussing confidentiality policies with adolescent patients and their families.
  2. Improve the Diplomate understanding and utilization of a comprehensive screening tool, such as Bright Futures or GAPS.
  3. Increase the Diplomate's comfort in using techniques to follow up with adolescent on social emotional health risks, specifically motivational interviewing and SBIRT.
  4. Enhance the Diplomate's understanding of the benefits of having a recall system for annual adolescent well checks.
  5. Increase the Diplomate's understanding of how many of their adolescent patients are administered the recommended immunizations.
  6. Deepen the Diplomate's understanding of how often they are routinely measuring and documenting BMI.
  7. Implement the appropriate techniques, policies and procedures related to comprehensive adolescent screening.
  8. Demonstrate improved knowledge on comprehensive adolescent screening.
