The 2012 NCAFP Spring Meeting
April 12-15, 2012 at The Embassy Suites Hotel
North Charleston, SC
The NCAFP is excited to announce that the 2012 Spring Meeting will be held at the beautiful Embassy Suites Hotel in North Charleston, SC.
Our Program Chair, William A. Dennis, MD, has assembled a flexible schedule complete with opportunities for popular workshops, SAMs Study Working Groups and terrific General Session with CME topics that you have requested. You and your family are sure to enjoy your time in Charleston with us this April!
Program Objectives & Information
Physicians and other health care professionals will receive current information on diverse medical subjects pertinent to patient care. Subject material was chosen based on assessed needs, future trends and the relevance to quality patient care through didactic seminars. The sessions will highlight new advances, enhance clinical skills and support professional development. Workshops are designed to teach skills valuable to family physicians.
Accreditation
Application for CME Credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed credit, not as Category 1.
Syllabus & Materials
Going Green in Spring!
The NCAFP has received numerous requests to Go Green and we are excited to make it happen. Not only will this environmentally friendly initiative save on natural resources, the NCAFP will save a significant amount in printing costs over the next year as well.
By GOING GREEN IN SPRING we will NOT be providing a printed general session syllabus or workshop syllabi for the 2012 Spring Family Physicians Weekend. We will be offering our program syllabus, workshop syllabi & conference materials EXCLUSIVELY online. Registered participants will receive an email with a web link approximately one week prior to the conference. The email will include a username and a password that will enable you to download, save and/or print your preferred program materials and course handouts. These online materials will be available for 90 days after the program.
Our General Sessions Meeting Room will offer wireless internet service to conference attendees. You are encouraged to bring your laptops, tablets or other mobile devices with you to the lecture hall and workshops. There will be limited power stations available as well as a dedicated printing station on site throughout the weekend. We appreciate your support as We Go Green in Spring.
*Note: Only SAMs Study Working Group program materials and workbooks will be provided in print. All other workshop attendees will be asked to download / print their course materials in advance.
ADA Compliance
The NCAFP will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act to offer this program to all interested parties regardless of any special needs they may have. Indicate on the registration form any special needs.
Refunds
Refunds (less a $75 administrative fee) will be made upon receipt of a written request until March 12th, 2012. Tickets to any social events and workshops cannot be refunded unless they are resold.
Interactive Lectures with Audience Response Technology and Meet the Expert Opportunities
Many lectures will include Audience Response Technology. Using remote key pads to respond to questions, scenarios and quizzes imbedded into the presentations, this fun and interactive experience creates an active learning environment and promotes a higher level of thinking and learning. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with faculty and to personally discuss further comments and questions about their lecture topics in a separate meeting room free of distractions.
T2P Lectures
We are pleased to offer lectures that qualify for the AAFP's latest program, Translation to Practice or T2P. Recently, introduced by the AAFP, T2P is a new CME credit category that complements CME Activity already approved for AAFP Prescribed credits. The program provides an opportunity to apply what you have learned and report back on how it has been translated into your practice. The program is free for AAFP Members only and will award 2 Prescribed credits for the full completion of a T2P activity.
