2012 Sports Medicine Symposium

July 7-8, 2012 - Myrtle Beach, SC

Activity Description - The purpose of the Symposium is to provide continued education for individuals in the field of Sports Medicine to include Physicians, Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers. Upon completion of the Symposium attendees will be well versed in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sports-related issues including a focus on tendinopathy, heat and critical issues management, complicated concussions, diagnosis and management of metatarsal fractures, rotator cuff management and pediatric anterior knee pain. Emphasis will be placed on newer diagnostic techniques and new treatment options for the Symposium topics including concussion evaluation and return to play form, MSK of common tendons and mastering examination skills for shoulders, hips, knees and ankles.

Accommodations - A block of rooms has been reserved by the NCAFP at the Kingston Plantation and Embassy Suites. The cut-off date for reserving your rooms at the group rate is June 1, 2012. Please note, this does NOT GUARANTEE that rooms will be available up until this date. Please be sure to mention the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians in order to receive the discounted room rate. Room rates in the Embassy Suites Hotel for Saturday, July 1 through Saturday July 7, 2012 are $235 per night plus tax. There is also a variety of Condos and Villas available at the Kingston Plantation. Prices range from $235 per night to $429 per night depending on size and location preferences. Registration - The early-bird registration fee for the Sports Medicine Symposium is $175 for NCMS member physicians, $250 for non-member physicians, $50 for residents, FREE for medical students, and $100 for athletic trainers and other allied health professionals. Friday evening's Welcome Reception and Saturday and Sunday mornings' breakfasts and breaks are included in the registration fee. Please complete the attached Meeting Registration Form and return it to the NCAFP with your check or credit card information as indicated. Early-bird rates ends June 1, 2012.

Registration Cancellation - Please note that refunds of registration fees will not be made after June 1, 2012. Refunds, less $25, will be made for cancellations received prior to that date.
